It's even better when you see it happen for your kids.
One of my dearest girlfriends, and first "Mommy friend" moved away last summer just after Anna was born. This was very difficult as she had become like a sister to me. We went through our first pregnancies together, first newborns together, first playdates, first steps, miscarriages, second pregnancies, and expanding our families to four. She is one of those people who not only makes you love being around them, but makes you want to be a better parent, and person, just by watching them live their everyday lives. And although we had done our best to keep in touch, the time between catch-up phone calls had waned over the past several months. Two moms with two kids each rarely find time in the daily hustle and bustle to chat on the phone. But when her family came to visit this weekend, I was reminded just how deep our friendship goes. The conversation was easy, the laughter bountiful, and the pain great when it all came to an end.
But seeing our children (after a few bashful moments) jump right back into their childhood friendship was priceless.
And here they are today...
(My friend will kill me if I do not mention that her precious daughter fell into the fountain a few minutes before we broke out the cameras, so she is sporting Charlie's clothes!)
Charlie and Katie playing with the chiggers. Who needs toys?
This picture cracks me up because I think it looks like it could be an album cover.
(Rock on, Ben, rock on.)
